An energy-efficiency scheme has been so popular with East Hampshire residents that all funding has now been allocated.
The East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) scheme, called Cosy East Hampshire, has helped residents improve the energy-efficiency of their homes by offering them cashback for installing new boilers, insulation, solar panels and more.
Cosy East Hampshire was funded through £2.9m funding from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, which was awarded to EHDC in April 2014.
The project has been an overwhelming success, helping hundreds of residents save money on their energy bills by reducing the amount of energy their homes use.
Anyone who has had confirmation of their funding allocation from EHDC will receive their cashback and EHDC is continuing to search for further funding to help residents in the future.
Cllr Adam Carew, EHDC’s Portfolio Holder for Energy and Environment, said: “This scheme has been a massive success and demand for green measures in residents’ homes has exceeded all our expectations.
“It once again demonstrates this council’s commitment to the sustainability and climate change agenda.
“I am thrilled East Hampshire District Council has helped so many people save money – as well as reducing energy use in the district.
“Although we have been quickly over subscribed and used all the allocated funding, we have not given up and will continue to seek alternative funding streams for energy-saving measures.
“Anyone interested in future schemes please get in touch with EHDC which will put you on the waiting list and contact you as soon as more funding is secured.”
